Business Development Manager – USA
Reference: BH-399c
Job Type: Freelance / Independent Co.
Location: Remote (US)
About ByteHire:
ByteHire is a specialist technology recruitment business helping companies hire high-quality technical talent across the US, UK and international markets.
We take a technical-first approach, combining specialist recruitment with structured screening and engineering-led validation to ensure clients meet genuinely relevant candidates.
As we expand our US presence further, we are looking for an experienced Principal Recruitment Consultant to develop new client relationships and generate business across the US technology market.
About the role:
This is primarily a sales and business development role. Your focus will be selling ByteHire's recruitment services to new companies, opening conversations with hiring decision-makers and converting prospects into active recruitment clients.
Ideally, you will have previously worked as a recruiter before moving into a sales or business development position. We are also interested in strong 360 recruiters who can demonstrate that winning new clients has been a significant part of their role.
You will be supported by ByteHire's recruitment, sourcing and technical screening teams, allowing you to concentrate primarily on developing relationships and generating new business.
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for an established recruiter who can demonstrate a strong track record of personally generating and converting new business, rather than solely managing vacancies provided through an existing desk.
You should be confident developing your own market, opening conversations with new organisations and turning those relationships into long-term recruitment partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Generate new recruitment relationships across the US technology market.
Identify companies with technical hiring needs and engage key decision-makers.
Build relationships with CTOs, engineering leaders, talent teams and founders.
Generate opportunities through direct outreach, networking and referrals.
Lead client relationship conversations and present ByteHire's services.
Convert prospects into active vacancies and long-term client relationships.
Assist with commercial discussions around recruitment fees and terms.
Grow existing accounts and identify further hiring opportunities.
Work with ByteHire's sourcing and technical teams to ensure successful delivery.
Key Experience:
Significant recruitment experience, ideally within the technology sector.
Proven success winning new recruitment clients and generating revenue.
Experience developing your own recruitment desk, territory or client portfolio.
Good understanding of the US technology hiring market.
Knowledge of software engineering, AI, cloud, DevOps, data or cybersecurity recruitment.
Strong prospecting, networking and relationship-building skills.
Confident with engaging and negotiating with senior decision-makers.
Commercially focused, self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
Desirable Experience:
An established professional network within the US technology sector.
Previous experience recruiting software engineers, AI/ML specialists, DevOps/Cloud engineers, data professionals or cybersecurity specialists.
Experience working with US start-ups, scale-ups, SaaS businesses, HealthTech companies or other technology-led organisations.
Experience establishing a new recruitment territory or developing a market from the ground up.
Previous experience operating successfully as an independent recruitment consultant.
Experience within smaller or growing recruitment businesses where consultants have significant commercial autonomy.
Familiarity with modern CRM, ATS, sourcing and business development platforms.
Why Join?
Play a key role in growing ByteHire's US presence.
Significant autonomy over your market and business development strategy.
Attractive, uncapped commission structure.
Access to dedicated sourcing and technical screening support.
Represent a differentiated, technical-first recruitment service.
Work across software engineering, AI, cloud, DevOps, data and cybersecurity.
Build and develop your own portfolio of US technology clients.
Fully remote, independent working arrangement.
