About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a major enterprise-wide AI transformation programme, with a particular focus on AI platforms, cloud architecture and architectural governance.

The organisation is progressing three key AI initiatives: AI-enabled software delivery, agentic workflows and the development of enterprise AI foundations.

This role will primarily focus on AI Foundations, establishing the architecture, governance, security and infrastructure required to support AI adoption across the organisation.

With the initial architectural assessment and target-state design completed, the programme is now moving into implementation. You will play a key role in establishing the processes, governance and technical direction needed to translate architectural strategy into practical delivery.

This is a strategic architecture role rather than a hands-on AI development position, requiring strong Enterprise Architecture, Microsoft Azure and cloud platform expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement enterprise architecture governance, standards and processes for AI platforms and services.

  • Support the transition from target-state architecture into implementation and adoption.

  • Provide architectural oversight across Microsoft Azure, cloud infrastructure and AI platforms.

  • Coordinate architectural decisions across multiple technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Review technical designs, challenge proposed solutions and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles.

  • Establish architectural controls, decision-making frameworks and ways of working.

  • Identify and manage architectural risks, dependencies and security considerations.

  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure AI platforms are scalable, secure and aligned with business objectives.

Essential Experience & Technical Skills

  • Extensive experience working as an Enterprise Architect within complex enterprise environments.

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and cloud architecture.

  • Proven experience establishing enterprise architecture governance, standards and frameworks.

  • Experience translating target-state architecture into practical implementation plans.

  • Strong understanding of AI platforms, infrastructure and enterprise adoption requirements.

  • Experience coordinating architectural decisions across multiple teams and technology domains.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud security, architectural risk management and technical assurance.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge senior technical leaders.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide AI transformation or AI platform adoption programmes.

  • Familiarity with agentic AI, AI-enabled software delivery or AI infrastructure.

  • Experience working with Azure AI services and associated cloud technologies.

  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.

  • Experience establishing architecture governance within large, complex or regulated organisations.
