Job Role: Data Engineering business Lead

Day Rate: £430 (Outside IR35)
Location: Hybrid (travel once per week to London office)

We are currently looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our client's team for an extended contractual period, with the option to work from locations in the UK or Ireland.

The Role / Project

As a data overseer, you will be in charge of managing the system and model for your designated business domain. Your responsibilities include addressing the data requirements of diverse stakeholders, collaborating with other data teams and real-time API teams, and leading your product team in identifying dependable and cost-efficient data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handling and maintenance of data within a specific business domain
  • Accountability for the complete end-to-end delivery of the system, including full ownership of the model
  • Comprehension of the business context of data and acting as a liaison between business users and other technical professionals within the Data Product Team
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to provide bulk, summarised, and visualised data as needed
  • Cooperative work with other data product teams to exchange standards and processes
  • Collaboration with adjoining teams managing APIs for real-time data input/output
  • Guiding the technical direction of the product team towards dependable, cost-effective data-sharing solutions

Required Skills

  • Substantial experience in Senior Data Engineering or a related field
  • Proficiency in the AWS Data Ecosystem (Glue, Athena, Apache Parquet)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum teams
  • Strong analytical skills to address complex data issues

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of business data models, flows, and requirements
  • Experience with Reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight)
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure and DevOps
  • Experience with 3rd party tools such as Snowflake
  • Proficiency in some version of SQL
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, data architecture, and engineering concepts
  • Experience with financial reporting, e.g., billing reports, balance sheet, etc.
